Sesame Seeds

Origins :

Sesame has been grown for so long that it is no longer possible to retrieve its wild ancestor. Its exact origin is difficult to determine, probably East Africa or India. The discovery of archaeological remains, however, shows that its seeds were cultivated in India 7,500 years ago and China 5000 years ago. Sesame then spread across Asia, the Middle and Near East, Africa and the Mediterranean. E.g. women of Babylon consumed much sesame for rejuvenation purposes.
